Connecting Concepts
Premsela's travelling exhibition Connecting Concepts headed for China in fall 2011, after showing in the Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bangalore. The show of Dutch design, fashion and architecture was part of the Dutch programme at Beijing Design Week from 26 September through 3 October. After Beijing, Conncecting Concepts traveled to Shanghai to be on view at Shanghai International Creative Industry Week (SICIW) from 26 October to 1 November. Curated by Ed van Hinte.

Dutch Design is recognized for its so-called Dutchness, but what does that mean? The exhibition will show what happens 'backstage' in Dutch Design and explore the ideas that combine to create the design culture that defines the Netherlands.
The setup of the exhibition discards with tradition. The focus is not on random objects displayed alongside textbook descriptions, but rather on process. This will help visitors to draw connections between the underlying ideas and principles that drive Dutch Design. The exhibition is flexible and new ideas and objects will be added and deleted to keep it geographically relevant and as immersed as possible in local design debates. In this fourth edition two exhibits from China have joined the collection; The Shop and ToMeetYou. Dutch contributions include Marcel Wanders’ Knotted Chair (photo) and Fashion by Painted
