Creative Amsterdam 2011

Creative Amsterdam took place at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam from 11 to 13 May. This three-day event hosted leading Dutch creative entrepreneurs operating abroad, challenging visitors to be part of the discussions. The programme included a DutchDFA workshop on doing business in China on 11 May. 


Creative Amsterdam invited visitors to be part of the discussions and to take advantage of the business opportunities that are presented. Creative Amsterdam offered internationally accomplished design professionals a stage to share their achievements and international experience, inspire others and start up new partnerships. 

 

WHO IS IT FOR 

Creative Amsterdam welcomed (inter)national professionals in the Dutch creative industry; creative workers and entrepreneurs with international ambitions; lecturers and students; politicians, policymakers and principals. 

 

11 May - DutchDFA workshop Doing Business in China

As part of the DutchDFA programme, the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO) - in collaboration with CBRD/INHolland and China experts -  hosted a workshop for Dutch designers who are interested in the ins and outs on doing business in China

 


Morning Session 10:00 - 13:15

Speakers included Jaap van der Grinten and Helma Weijnand Schut (INHolland), Vanesa de Groot (Dutch Design Desks Guangzhou) and Jan Roelof Abbring (Itim International).

 

Afternoon Session 14:00 - 17:30

The elements Enter the Dragon, Creative Shanghai en Creative Guangzhou included Victor van der Chijs (OMA), Ton van Zeeland (Consul-General Guangzhou), Jorg van der Hoven (Ask4Me Group), Peter Slavenburg (NorthernLight), Marc van der Chijs (Spil Games), Remi Oerlemans (DVP-China), Hans Brouwer (MassiveMusic), Richelle Groen (Adidas NEO), Mark Hemel (Information Based Architecture), Jorg van den Hoven (Ask4Me) and Rem D. Koolhaas (United Nude).

 

Day Closing 17:45 – 18:15 

At the end of the day, Consul-General Guangzhou Ton van Zeeland launched the research group Guangzhou, together with Teun Hompe of the Dutch Design Desk in Guangzhou. This group offers entrepreneurs with an interest in or experience with doing business in China a platform to share their knowledge and experience.

12 May - Open Studio Night 

On May 12 Creative Amsterdam initiated the first Open Studio Night. Renowned advertising agencies, design studios and other businesses in the creative industry will open their doors for talented students, peers and other stakeholders. www.creativeamsterdam.nl/openstudionight 

 

13 May - Creative Amsterdam Award 

On May 13, Carolien Gehrels (Alderwoman of Amsterdam) presented the Creative Amsterdam Award to sneaker design comapny !SYOU, the young entrepreneur with the most ambitious and promising international business plan.
