2011 CII-NID Design Summit
The 11th CII-NID Design Summit was held on 8 and 9 December 2011 in Delhi. The theme for the 11th CII-NID Design Summit was “Design Innovation”, which provided a platform to explore key challenges and opportunities for product & service design and innovation in an Indian context. The DutchDFA programme supportws three Dutch speakers who delivered keynote lectures.
Roel Stavorinus spoke during the session covering Design Methods, where the focus was on discussing design methods for managing design within an organization. Roel also gave workshops earlier this year at the 2011 Design Yatra conference which was held in Goa.

Prabhu Kandachar and Erik-Jan Hultink, Professors at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology presented Indeed, New perspectives for Indian design education. The result of an intensive collaboration between Indian and Dutch design researchers and design professionals, Indeed stands for INdian DEsign EDucation. Indeed argues that a strong design sector will drive India’s economic and sustainable growth. Two themes are highlighted on both these aspects: (a) Socially responsible and inclusive design following the Base-of-the-Pyramid strategy, and (b) Strategic Innovation and Design Thinking.
Previous Dutch speakers at this conference have included Jos Oberdorf (NPK), Peter Kersten (BNO), Theo Groothuizen and Herbert Seevinck (Mijksenaar).
