A year after the launch of the four-year programme for the international promotion of Dutch design, it was time to look back on the achievements so far and look forward to the plans for the future. The presentation was lively and interesting, with contributions from amongst others Frans Timmermans and Daryl van Wouw. You can read the report on our website or take a look at the photo impression.

'Taking a Stance' in Beijing includes Sino-Dutch debate on design
After a successful turn in Shanghai, the exhibition 'Taking a Stance - 8 Critical Attitudes in Chinese and Dutch Architecture and Design' travels on to the Today Art Museum in Beijing from April 27 to May 14. Next to presenting the work of eight trend-setting designers from the Netherlands and China, the programme includes debates on the position of design in present-day China. After visiting Shenzhen in June, the tour will end in October at the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) in Rotterdam. Check out the 'Taking a Stance' website and the DutchDFA news section for regular updates.

Market research and more DutchDFA in Germany
This month, an in-depth market research of the German creative industries design, fashion and architecture has started. The research will focus on the opportunities for Dutch designers to successfully enter the German market. INHolland research centre for Cross-media, Brand, Reputation and Design Management (CBRD) was commissioned by DutchDFA to perform the study and the results are expected in July.

In the mean time, there are plenty of opportunities already to meet the Dutch in Germany the next few months. The finalists and winners of the Dutch Design Awards 2009 will be on show in the Red Dot Museum in Essen from April 8 through to May 2. On May 1, the unique temporary accommodation designed by Jurgen Bey for the GastGastgeber project during RUHR.2010 will open in Oberhausen. www.nl-ruhr.de
