Join the Dutch Design WorkSpace in Shanghai
The Dutch Design WorkSpace in Shanghai is one step closer to opening its doors in July 2010. Dutch designers can now apply to join the creative incubator programme in the Jing'an District. The WorkSpace will house design companies that would like to enter the Chinese market and aims to support their first steps into this challenging business environment by providing assistance with local marketing, relation management and practical governmental issues. New Dutch Profiles: Rem Koolhaas and Irma Boom
Two brandnew names have been added to Dutch Profiles, the series of short documentaries focusing on the conceptual and research-based background of well-known icons of Dutch design. The videos now include a glance into the world of noted architect Rem Koolhaas and graphic designer Irma Boom. Work by both Koolhaas and Boom is also on show in the exhibition Taking a Stance at the OCAT Art & Design Gallery in Shenzhen, China, from June 26 to August 5.

Incoming design mission from India
DutchDFA invited a selection of key professionals from India for a design mission to The Netherlands from June 13 to 17. The Indian delegation is introduced to the world of Dutch fashion, design and architecture in a varied 6-day programme with visits to Holland's most creative cities. The itinerary includes a presentation of the results of the mapping in India as part of the DutchDFA programme, on June 15 in Amsterdam. The mapping is meant to support and stimulate the development of an exciting and effective programme for professional long-term design exchange between India and the Netherlands.

(Un)limited Dutch Design at DMY Berlin
From June 9 to 13, (Un)limited Dutch Design will show The Netherlands as an open-design country in an international context during DMY International Design Festival in Berlin. The second edition of the (Un)limited Design Contest takes place on June 9, showing a selection of the entries in an exhibition that will grow during DMY by adding designs made on the spot. Other activities include lunch sessions, talks and a book. This project is a joint initiative of Waag Society, Premsela and Creative Commons in collaboration with Fablab.

Gilian Schrofer designs for GastGastgeber in Dortmund
On July 17, the unique temporary accommodation designed by Gilian Schrofer for the GastGastgeber project during RUHR.2010 will open in Dortmund. In a street close to the former brewery Dortmunder U, now the Centre for Art and Creativity, 7 empty apartments are fully decorated in a tribute to 100 years of Dutch design. The temporary design accommodation is open to guests of NL-RUHR until November 2010 and overnight stays can be booked through gast@gastgastgeber.org. The apartments are open for free visits every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 14 to 17 hrs.

The Dutch Design Fashion Architecture (DutchDFA) programme, which runs from 2009 through 2012, aims to strengthen the international position of the three Dutch creative disciplines on a long-term basis by joining forces within the field. DutchDFA is a unique collaboration between public and private partners, drawing together representatives of the Dutch Ministries of Economic Affairs, of Education, Culture & Science and of Foreign Affairs, sector-specific organisations such as Premsela and the Netherlands Architecture Institute, as well as the Office of the Chief Government Architect, and professional associations including the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO), the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects (BNA), the Association of Dutch Interior Architects (BNI) and MODINT (trade association for fashion, interior design, carpets and textiles), as well as the Dutch creative hubs of Amsterdam, Arnhem, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague.
