Public Pixel Art

Visitors of the Guangzhou Design Week 2011 are asked for their help! Ask4Me Group and 3House Productions organized a public pixel artwork. The aim is to fill a surface of ten by five meters with 30millimeter pixels. This comes down to more than 50.000 pixels that have to be stuck to the ground. The pixels are stickers and come in ten colors. With these stickers visitors and professional designers are asked to create their own artwork. The theme of the artwork is Christmas. Together we try to build a beautiful creative landscape, filled with Christmas patterns and colorful shapes!
Who is Pixel Art?
We are Ask4Me Group and 3House Production, two experienced Dutch design companies based in China that try to boost the creative industry in Guangzhou.
Ask4Me Group is the biggest foreign product design company in Guangzhou. They are currently working on various products: household appliances, LED technology, solar technology, Personal Area Network technology, baby electronics, home decoration, toys, and art sculptures. Among others they are working for Philips, Unilever, Tiger Beer and various European, American and Chinese brands.Ask4Me Group provides product style forecast, ergonomic analysis, hand sketch design, rendering and CAD.

3House Productions are one of the biggest suppliers of design support products and design consultancy services in Asia. They work with producers, importers and retailers from China, Europe, and America. For them they design: home décor, furniture, home textile, gifts and floral products. 3House Productions provides trend books, pattern books, trend forecast, product design, styling and graphic design.

Why are we doing this?
We like to show the capacity of creativity that the visitors of the Guangzhou Design Week carry with them. Since the very beginning we are participating in the Guangzhou design week, and we noticed it is a fair where a lot of designers go to. It is a good place to build something together, which is much nicer than to compete with each other!
