New format OBJECT Rotterdam

The 2012 edition of OBJECT Rotterdam takes place from 9 to 12 February. Anne van der Zwaag, the new director has realised a new and inspiring format in which innovation plays an important role.The fresh ambitions of OBJECT Rotterdam are displayed in signing on not only galleries, but designers and academies as well, in the new Committee of Recommendation, with its world famous ambassadors of Dutch art and design Joep van Lieshout, Ben van Berkel, Jurgen Bey and Marcel Wanders, and in the focus on the cutting edge between design, crafts, architecture, fashion and art.

For the first time ever, OBJECT Rotterdam has appointed featured designers, who will create a special intervention at the fair. Besides the earlier announced national scoops of the limited editions that Galerie Judy Straten will show in cooperation with K?ehký Gallery, including Camoufleur by Richard Hutten, there are two more scoops to announce.

Featured artists: Studio Drift

Ralph and Lonneke founded StudioDRIFT in 2006, with the vision of creating design that reacts to and questions human behaviour.
"In this time of information overload and exaggerated senses, we hope that our work emphasizes the metaphysical quality of human sensations, that it establishes a point of balance in the midst of the contradictions of daily life, and that it stresses immaterial - spiritual and emotional - values. Because of these goals, light has been one of our favourite mediums; light expresses emotions in a very direct way". -Studio DRIFT

Especially for OBJECT, Studio DRIFT has created an intervention in the fair and presents an interactive furniture installation.

Label LIESHOUTT at Margreeth Olsthoorn
Joep van Lieshout and his sister Amine present a limited edition series bags with Margreeth Olsthoorn under the label LIESHOUTT. These numbered leather bags all contain an original drawing by Joep. The bags are handmade by Amine and can be worn by women as well as men. There are three models, two handbags and a weekendbag in the colors bright red, grass green, chocolate brown and bronze. Edition of 10 per model.
