First participants join Dutch Design Workspace in Shanghai
The Dutch Design Workspace in Shanghai is ready to welcome the first participants after the soft opening on July 30. After the first selection round three candidates have been accepted to the incubator programme for Dutch designers in Shanghai.
The candidates are: Rotterdam based architecture firm MVRDV, museum and expo designers Northernlight from Amsterdam and multidisciplinary design firm FiveSpices from The Hague! All three have convinced the selection committee with excellent proposals on their future business development in China.
The aim of the incubator programme is to select a broad variety of participants with a focus on a certain design discipline or topic within their portfolio. Participants are invited to apply for the incubator programme from all fields of design such as architecture, urban planning, product and furniture design, graphic and web design, fashion, food and packaging design. The programme aims to stimulate exchange and collaboration between the various disciplines of the participants and at the same time makes sure to avoid direct competition within the incubator.
The official opening will take place during Shanghai International Creative Industry Week 2010 (15 to 22 September). A set of images of the interior of the Workspace are available on Flickr. For more information on joining the Dutch Desgin Workspace, please visit the website.
