Press release:

Cooperation part of stimulus plan central government worth 15 billion EUR

Chinglish.com, a Dutch consultancy, signed a partnership with the Zhengzhou Creative Centre on June 8th. This cooperation is part of a series of projects from the Chinese Central Government designed to accelerate the development of China’s most populated province. The signing ceremony took place during a meeting at the Henan-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Exchanges Fair 2011. Officials of Henan province witnessed the signing ceremony of over 15 billion EUR worth of projects, with the creative industry as one of the focal points of the stimulus plan. Chinglish.com was selected by the Government as its partner to connect creative companies from Europe and the U.S. to this upcoming area in the middle of China.

The new Shanghai

Zhengzhou, the province’s capital with close to 7 million inhabitants, is experiencing a high influx of Chinese SMEs and large corporations setting up operations. Western companies are also discovering this area. Industry experts attribute this trend to two primary factors working in concert. Market saturation in first tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai is causing companies to look elsewhere for more lucrative opportunities. Concurrently, the “Go West” development program of the Central Government is pulling companies inland with favorable government policies and support. Zhengzhou is leading the charge with the modernization of its transportation infrastructure and fast-paced development of its economic and hi-tech zones. The combination of lower labor costs, business-friendly initiatives, and convenient transportation is paving the way for the migration of an increasing number of Chinese and Western companies to Zhengzhou.

The unprecedented growth and massive expansion of Henan’s capital has set the stage for the creative industry to play a critical role in private and public sector projects.

Connecting the Western creative industry to China

The Henan Provincial and Zhengzhou City Governments are taking actions to promote the creative industry and foster its growth. One such action is cooperation with the Holland based consultancy Chinglish.com. The cooperative endeavor is aimed at connecting Western designers, architects, and other companies involved in the creative field to this huge market. Managing Director of Chinglish.com, Marius van Bergen, feels that “being the first Western consultancy based in Zhengzhou, Chinglish is in an excellent position to serve as a platform for bringing innovation and creativity to this booming region.”
