This event has led to both national and international media attention. The search term 'coin and QR' now scores 5.2 million hits on Google. Magazines and blogs all around the world have written about the coin. Designer Juan Jose Sanchez Castaño gave an interview to Deutsche Welle. Mint Master Maarten Brouwer explains: "This is a good step towards achieving our ambition to be in the top 5 of Mint Houses in the world. We distinguish ourselves especially in the areas of technology and logistics."
The design of the coin refers to both old and new. The architectural beauty of the historic Mint House building and the portrait or the Dutch queen are combined with innovative techniques like the QR code. Many details and symbolic references are included in the commemorative coin.
