SALON/Istanbul at the first Istanbul Design Biennial presented work by Dutch and Turkish (fashion) designers and artists at 35 locations in Istanbul. It included the results of the anticipatory workshops in which 15 Dutch designers collaborated with Turkish counterparts.

SALON/Istanbul took place from 30 June to 15 July in Amsterdam, showing work by Turkish (fashion) designers who live in the Netherlands and a Dutch/Turkish collaboration project. In fall 2012, SALON/ travelled to the Istanbul Design Biennial.

The DutchDFA programme for Turkey, started in 2011, aims to build strong networks with Turkish creative industries in preparation for a wide range of activities during the celebration of 400 years of diplomatic relations in 2012. Projects include Dutch Design Awards and Dutch Profiles in Istanbul.
